Lakeside  Soccer  Program Ad Guidelines

Many parents like to put a personal ad in the soccer program encouraging their son or daughter and recognizing their accomplishments.  The cost of these ads is credited just as selling an ad to a commercial sponsor.  Here are some guidelines:

A. Sizes and pricing available are the same as for the commercial sponsor ads.

Business card - $35.................... 2.0” x 3.5”
Quarter page - $45..................... 3.5” x 4.25”
Half page - $75.......................... 4.25” x 7.25”
Full page - $125......................... 7.25” x 8.75”

B. Selecting photographs

The photographs you want to use will most likely be color.  Our program is printed in black and white, so pay attention to those colors!  Dark blues and greens, reds, browns, and blacks will all come out either dark gray or black.  So that cute U-6 picture of little brown-haired Suzie in her red and blue soccer uniform, standing in off to the side of the practice field in front of the trees may end up looking like Suzie’s face floating in a dark summer sky.  Colors are fine, but try to select pictures with a mixture of light and dark values.  If you’re unsure about a photo, copy it on a Xerox machine and see what it looks like.

Original photographs are best.  We will scan the pictures to be used in your ad and convert them to black and white, and in some cases, adjust the contrast accordingly, and return your originals to you.  Digital photos printed on plain paper are the worst the work with.  If you have them saved digitally, please e-mail them to us or give them to us on a disk.

C. Ad Layout

You don’t have to give us “camera ready” artwork for your ad.  You can sketch your ad layout, showing us where you want the photo(s) and text, and what you want to say in your ad, and we’ll compose the ad for you.  We’ll crop and re-size photos as required and fit the text to the ad size.  The spaces allowed for each ad size are listed above with the prices.

If you are computer literate and want to compose your own ad, we will need it to be saved in one of the standard graphics formats, such as .tif, .gif, or .jpg.  We use PageMaker 7 to put the program together and your file must be importable to this, or to PowerPoint.  And if you completely understand this paragraph, we want to talk to you about working on the program next year.
